SKYWIN Wallonie

SKYWIN Wallonia is a cluster focused on 5 sectors and 6 technological axes. The sectors cover civil aeronautics, space, drones, defence and engineering. The 6 technological axes consist of: composite materials and industrial processes; metallic materials and industrial processes; embedded systems; airport services; space and drone’s applications and systems; and modelling and simulation.

Recently, SKYWIN and MecaTech (2 competitive clusters of Wallonia) have united to meet the new technological needs of the Defence sector in Wallonia (complex and intelligent systems). The objective is to position Walloon entities that are active in the defence sector with regards to new opportunities that could emerge from federal and European defence projects, also by insuring the necessary links with R&D projects executed at the regional Walloon level.

For the defence sector in particular, SKYWIN acts as the main point of contact for Wallonia region when it comes to R&D programmes (on European, national or regional level).

SKYWIN has 148 members, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), research operators, training centres, large companies, agencies and more. The defence sector in Wallonia represents some 4,000 direct jobs and more than €1 billion  of annual turnover.
